Yes i confirm that with the official innoteck package (from
virtualbox.org), the seamless mode don't hide the KDE taskbar. The
Taskbar of the Virtualized Machine is just on the top of my Kunbuntu
host Task bar.

The situation is different with ose version : The VM Taskbar (in fact i
have just try with windows XP) hide my KDE Taskbar (i don't know for
Gnome).

To reproduce the "bug" (in fact i think that's just a nasty problem of 
configuration, but it should be resolved) :
install virtualbox-ose, create a VM and install Windows XP SP2 on it, install 
the addition client.
Activate the seamless mode and enjoy to have loose your Kubuntu taskbar :op. Of 
course you can reactivate it by doing some advised click but it's not user 
friendly...
