I think this was written in error, unfortunately. It now appears to me that the cause of the problem described here was actually not due to Ubuntu touch as I have been able to reproduce it on an android device with the same headset. So it is likely a hardware issue related to the headset in question. Given that it only occurs in specific context (i.e using certain kind of audio) it was difficult to notice at first.
