Public bug reported:

I was using gnome-terminal on Ubunutu 14.04 when it crashed. When the
crash notification message box appeared ("submit dump", etc.) there was
an option to relaunch the terminal. I chose this option.

Git started exhibiting strange behaviours when trying to clone
repositories, claiming it did not have permission even if ran within a
directory with 777. Eventually I realised it may be a terminal issue
and when I closed it and opened a new one from the launcher the
permissions error disappeared.

** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
