Public bug reported:
It seems that the suggested fix for a number of issues is "sudo
/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup" (bug 1466046 being just one example, the
Debian wiki at
https://wiki.debian.org/VirtualBox#Kernel_driver_not_installed_.28rc.3D-1908.29
another). The referenced file does not exist, but it supposedly exists
in packages shipped by Oracle. Looks like the file might be missing
unintentionally from the Debian and Ubuntu packages.
For reference sake, I do have /dev/vboxdrv. dpkg-reconfiguring
virtualbox-dkms succeeds but does not change the situation.
