Update:

I've backed up the old f-spot dir in .gnome2 and started f-spot again as
Cpt-Falcon said and I have the same as him. Apparently no full screen or
slideshow., but looking better, they actually seem to happen in a
transparent small window on the left side. There's even on option to
close the... er... fullscreen :-?

The new user, instead, has all the stuff and paraphernalia working all
right.  I wonder what's happening. I've copied the new user conf via
root and I'll see if i can spot any differences ASAP.

BTW, forget the RealPlayer bit:it seem it has no influence.
