Since the most recent Asterisk install on Ubuntu I attempted (Xenial) had Asterisk broken in its entirety (had to build from asterisk.org source), I would say that if you want to run Asterisk from prebuilt packages, you should look at distros which pay more attention to their packages--at least their telephony ones. Ubuntu does not currently appear to have the dev bandwidth to stay on top of all available packages.
