Public bug reported:
System: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Kate Version: 4:15.12.3-0ubuntu2
Linux relja-ThinkPad-T450 4.4.0-62-generic #83-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 18 14:10:15
UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Kate suddenly stopped showing menu bars. Googling suggested editing the config
files to change "MenuBar=Disabled" into "MenuBar=Enabled" - I tried that (as
well as deleting those lines all together) but when I start Kate there is no
change, and it also reedits/readds the the MenuBar=Disabled line. I also tried
making the config file read-only - then obviously the line doesn't get
changed/added, but Kate's behaviour is the same. I'm talking about config files
~/.local/share/kate/sessions/d.katesession (my session name is 'd')
and
~/.local/share/kate/anonymous.katesession
KWrite does have a menu bar.
Not sure what could have changed - I don't think Kate was updated
recently and nothing seems related in the update history (though I'm not
so familiar with related packages so it could be that some dependency
got updated).
