The original problem with black border appeared time-to-time, but after the latest updates it occurs after every suspend.
Confirming the same problem reported by #81 and bellow. Lenovo ThinkPad E540 Ubuntu 16.04, Nvidia 375.39 Confirming, that switching to another TTY with Ctrl+Alt+F1 does NOT fix the problem. Confirming, that unity --replace fixes the problem.
