Public bug reported: ## Ubuntu version ## ubuntu-16.10-server-amd64
## Environment ## VirtualBox 5.1.6 ## Problem description ## Ubuntu server installer fail to load kernel modules when a kickstart file is used as boot parameter. The installer is then unable to detect network interfaces (because module e1000 is not loaded) and fail https://ibin.co/3DTY1ZsdqEud.jpg https://ibin.co/3DTYIkXmSwmt.jpg ## How to reproduce ## The bug happens with VirtualBox but also with all physical machines I tested the kickstart installation on. To reproduce this bug you just have to start a new VirtualBox Linux VM and start a new ubuntu server installation with boot option "ks=http://foo.bar/ks.cfg" https://ibin.co/3DTkQZRuGLZN.jpg Here is the command line used to boot (more information available within the attached syslog file): Kernel command line: file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed vga=788 initrd=/install/initrd.gz DEBCONF_DEBUG=5 ks=http://foo.bar/ks.cfg --- keyboard-configuration/layoutcode=fr keyboard- ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: http installer kickstart ** Attachment added: "syslog extracted from busybox after installation with ks bug occured" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1667605/+attachment/4825761/+files/syslog_vbox_20170224 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1667605 Title: Installer fail to load kernel modules when using kickstart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1667605/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
