"Snaps are supposed to make Ubuntu easier for non-techie users, not harder, and putting this data in a standard directory under $HOME does not pass the grandmother test"
IIRC, the reason why ~/snap was chosen was precisely to pass "the grandmother test" since a snap's data is typically stored in ~/snap/<name>/.... Putting those files in a hidden directory (eg ~/.snap/<name>/...) means that "Grandma" may not be able to find as easily the document she just created. That said, I see no reason why this cannot be revisited on the mailing list as Mark suggested. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575053 Title: User data directory should conform to XDG Base Directory Specification To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1575053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
