I don't think mir has anything to do with this. For those with NVIDIA hardware, it's possible that something needs to be done better in the NVIDIA drivers so you're welcome to talk to the NVIDIA driver packager about that.
If you want to confirm that it's not distro-specific, you could try another distro.
