Public bug reported:

I upgraded to gutsy several months ago (July), and had to rollback to
feisty due to a lag in the dns resolution. I've done the upgrade again
and the results are the same, however, I've had the opportunity to
isolate somehow the problem.

It's not a kernel problem, since it started just after I upgraded the
packages. The interesting thing is that some tools such as ping or apt-
get doesn't have this problem, but firefox, gaim, x-chat, and other
common desktop tools have it.

The other interesting issue is that it doesn't have any problem working
with ethernet.

I have a MacBook (a recent model), the wireless card is an atheros one, so far
I've been unable to make it work with the madwifi drivers (even trunk):
02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5418 802.11a/b/g/n
Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

I don't have a clue on how to solve this or how to identify where the
problem exactly is.

** Affects: glibc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
