Kernel 4.4.0-66 Nvidia 375 Xubuntu 16.04.2 GTX965M
Long ago removed splash screens etc during boot, so after the upgrade of kernel and graphics driver, I could see that the "Nvidia peristence deamon" was failing to start. It gets retried a couple of times, but after it fails for the final time, the boot process is dead. And the system is then hung. Manually adding nomodeset to the grub boot options (from boot loader menu) at least gets me back into a desktop, BUT the nvidia driver is not working properly at that point (nvidia settings for example does not register the graphics card at all). Before this upgrade today, everything was fine. I am now forced back to the open source drivers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1638990 Title: nvidia-367 with kernel 4.4.0-45-generic won't boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1638990/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
