Can you provide the output of the commands from the logs:
Job for smbd.service failed because the control process exited with
error code. See "systemctl status smbd.service" and "journalctl -xe" for
details.
Also, rather than trying to force things, let's get to a clean working
apt (no dpkg errors) (so might require purging samba first) then attempt
to install it fresh.
