Same issue with OpenVPN. As a workaround, once the VPN is connected, I edit /etc/resolv.conf and add my DNS (nameserver 8.8.8.8).
It makes DNS resolution work again. But if I disconnect and reconnect the VPN resolv.conf is indeed reseted.
