Public bug reported:

Since version 2.4 docker-registry has implemented a functionality to do
garbage collection and delete old images that are not used anymore by
the system. https://docs.docker.com/registry/garbage-collection/

I believe this feature is quite relevant for anyone running a private
docker registry.

I would like to ask if we can backport this feature or eventually have a
newer version of the docker registry in the xenial-backports repository.

** Affects: docker-registry (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
