Just a little clarification of my point of view. I appreciate all the suggestion aimed at resolving my problem. I really appreciate the (k)ubuntu community. What I would like to see regarding this bug is, however, a solution to the underlaying problem. What I see instead is trying to find an app which can circumvent it. Who knows if maybe in the future the problems gets worse and I cannot print anymore with my kubuntu install? I would really like to avoid that. And, moreover, I'm puzzled and worries about the selection of some packages release, like ghostscript being an svn snapshot into what should be a stable release. That is probably also the root of the problem itself. When you look at Debian sid, which is all but a stable platform, and you see it's a few releases _behind_, you really start to wonder if the choice was sound. When the aim of (k)ubuntu is, among other things, stability itself, I wonder even more.
