I tried the Proposed setting, and did the update/upgrade cycle, but no
replacement kernel came in. I turned the option off, then found that
4.8.0-45 was ready to install.

Same story - no wireless, and no ath9k driver in the kernel modules.

So I ran "sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-image-
extra-4.8.0-45-generic" and now have the module and working wireless.

This is fixed for me, but there are probably lots out there with broken
networking and limited ability to update.
