-fsource=1.4 reduces the number of warnings, but it does not fix the segfaults.
One thing I did notice is that there are a number of Java class files that in the source package that appear to be in libgcj too (javax.xml.parsers.*), which is probably the problem. My guess is that the bug is due to the copies of the classes in the trang binary conflicting with the copies in libgcj.
