Public bug reported:
I installed Ubuntu 16.10 and then installed Cinnamon DE. I have since
wanted to go back to gnome. To install gnome, I installed "gnome-shell"
and "gnome-shell-extensions*" from the stock Ubuntu repositories.
When I login, icons look to be the right size, but gtk3 windows seems to
double the size of my mouse, the window borders are double the size,
etc.
