@sergey it looks like there are two issues:
1) you mentioned that you ran into some graphical issues and from the
Journal Errors there are numerous GPU faults declared.
2) During an upgrade of grub-legacy-ec2 had issues doing an upgrade. In terms
of the grub-legacy-ec2 it looks like you went from:
0.7.9-48-g1c795b9-0ubuntu1~16.04.1
to
0.7.8-49-g9e904bb-0ubuntu1~16.04.4
Is this an instance actually running on ec2? is the issue still present?
