I can confirm that I too have this issue with no audio over HDMI on the Abit AN-M2HD (ALC883). It seems as if the hardware is being detected properly as far as I can tell, just no sound is coming through.
I have subscribed to the thread, so if there is any additional information that I can supply or things that I can test, I'd be more than happy to. I would really like to get this working for my Mythtv setup.
