i attempted a "sudo apt-get remove kubutu-desktop" and it only warned me that kubuntu-desktop would be removed (45.1kB) i'm going to remove it and try again ( i can always run startkde if that removes my session from the start ). and the file /etc/apt/preferences does not exist.... i'll let you know about my progress with this.
