Your primary hard drive has Windows installed in EFI mode.  If you want
to dual boot with Windows, then you need to install Ubuntu in EFI mode.
You were trying to install it to /dev/sdc in bios mode, and grub to
/dev/sda.  If you want Ubuntu entirely separate to use for manually
asking your bios to boot when the drive is plugged in, then install grub
to /dev/sdc.
