Setting the rate down to 1M seems to work ok.

iwconfig eth1 rate 1M fixed

Strangely, I rebooted and it picked up the network fine. However, it has
picked up the network with a bit rate of 24 Mb/s, which it was never
able to before.

eth1 IEEE 802.11b/g ESSID:"zazz" Nickname:"Broadcom 4306"
          Mode:Managed Frequency=2.452 GHz Access Point: 00:19:DB:0E:36:2C
          Bit Rate=24 Mb/s Tx-Power=19 dBm
          RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Link Quality=63/100 Signal level=-66 dBm Noise level=-69 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:1 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

It seems to drop a lot of packets at 24 Mb/s, at 1 Mb/s it seems pretty
stable.
