** Description changed: - Update 19/07: + Update 19/10/07: 24 hours after release of 7.10, and after several unsuccessful updates in that time period, I have tried the update again, and it appears to be working -- after no changes from me. Is it possible that these errors were generated by server-side file problems? Perhaps certain mirrors generated problems for people, and those mirrors have since been fixed? Perhaps some of the people below with different error logs still have problems due to different bugs? In any case I suggest that whatever bug I experienced be dealt with before it hits the wrong CEO in the next release :) Original description: Binary package hint: update-manager Upgrading Ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 with the "Upgrade" button. The speed of download was very slow even though the speed of download from my chosen update source was very fast. "Getting upgrade prerequisites failed The system was unable to get the prerequisites for the upgrade. The upgrade will abort now and restore the original system state. Please report this as a bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport."
