Just an update, the allocation error is still occurring in the official release of Gutsy. I am using the standard desktop-i386 live CD. As with tribe 5, I select the run or install option from the opening menu, see the kernel progress bar, and then get the allocation error. It was suggested I restart and take out the splash quiet option, the last message I receive before everything halts is PCI: MSI quirk detected. MSI disabled."
