After test update from 16.04lts->16.10->17.04 with gnome 3.24 have Wayland option on login page. But after clean install 17.04 gnome same topic starter find only GNOME (Xorg ...) and GNOME Classic.
have last update, install system yesterday. Try install proprietary nvidia driver. After this system load, wayland not came, and after go Software&Update->AdditionalDrivers table not switch and system instant freez. Help only press 6 sec PowerButton and full restart.
