Your ffmpeg is too old. The select option was added in commit 1f3a29e on
2015-10-10, and the FFmpeg 2.8 branch was released on 2015-09-05.
Release branches do not receive backports of new features.
The online FFmpeg documentation is kept in sync with the git master
branch. Refer to your local documentation if you're using anything else
such as a release version.
