Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. Looks like an upgrade from 5.7.18-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 to 5.7.17-0ubuntu0.16.04.2. The terminal log shows an error with pre- removal script possibly when trying to stop the server. I might suggest trying to manually stop the server first and then try the upgrade again.
I do not see any glaring issues with the mysql error log or journal log. Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would: provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to "New". For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community ** Changed in: mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1693454 Title: package mysql-server-5.7 5.7.18-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.7/+bug/1693454/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
