I'm seeing this problem on kubuntu 14.04.5 x64 + updates (kde-window- manager 4:4.11.11-0ubuntu0.2, but also trusty-backports enabled).
It started about a month ago. It produces the "shattered windows" effect on the desktop after I unlock the screen blank from overnight. I can consistently recover by blindly typing <ALT-F2>kwin --replace<enter>. HW is a Dell 6410 with Nvidia GT218M [NVS 3100M]. I can make more details available -- just let me know how to get them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440210 Title: KWin crashes multiple times a day and often has to be restarted manually.
