When I run xdg-open, here are the processes that get spawned:
/bin/sh /usr/bin/xdg-open linux-3.2.89.tar.xz
/usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/run-mailcap --action=view linux-3.2.89.tar.xz
/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-archive file=/tmp/filenaxeY1.2.89.tar
