Public bug reported:
I have, or had, Ubuntu 7.04 Server 386 installed, with the ubuntu-desktop
installed over the top.
I attempted an online upgrade to 7.10.
I received numerous package errors, followed by the upgrade aborting with the
following message.
Please report this as a bug (if you haven't already) and include thefiles
/var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log and /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log in your
report. The upgrade aborts now.
Your original sources.list was saved in /etc/apt/sources.list.distUpgrade.

I rebooted and now can log in but there is no desktop, just a blank blue
screen. I am now booting from another partition and have access to the
files suggested above as useful for diagnosis.
