Public bug reported:
Randomly, I will loose the ability to type anything. No keypress form
the keyboard is registered by the application.
When this happens, it generally only affects one application at a time.
All other applications will still work OK. So this is not something that
affects the entire system as a whole. It's also not application specific
as any application can randomly be affected by this.
The workaround for the problem is to right click in the text window of
the affected application and switch from X Input Method to SCIM (or any
other) input method. After that, everything resumes to work normally.
Restarting the application also works.
Here is my system setup:
Gutsy 64-bit (happened with 32-bit in beta too though)
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
4 gigs RAM
Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 (Japanese Version)
SCIM is installed for Japanese input
This problem was never present on Edgy or Feisty so it is definitely
something that has been introduced with Gutsy.
