Advice from the legal team is that we do need to fix this:

I have had confirmation that while the Indian Geospatial Information Regulation
Bill, 2016 is still in draft form and has not been enacted, the publishing of
maps and mapping activity is tightly controlled and there is an existing
framework in place in India that covers this.
In particular:
(a) there are existing laws which provide that incorrectly* depicting the map
is a criminal offence. *Any maps published should be in accordance with the
maps published by the Survey of India.

(b) The Information Technology Act 2000 also empowers to the government to
direct any agency of the Government or intermediary to block for access by the
public or cause to be blocked for access by the public any information
generated, transmitted, received, stored or hosted in any computer resource, if
it deems it necessary, inter alia, for the defence of India or security of the
State.
We will therefore need to ensure that the maps are updated and correct.

I've prepared a branch with what I think is the correct map, and I am waiting
for a review from legal before proposing it.

I could do with some help testing it.
