Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
In the kubuntu installer (tested on gutsy and feisty), if you choose to
format an existing fat32 partition as ext3, the partition's system id is
not changed. This causes grub-install to fail (see bug #128668).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a fat32 partition
2. Start Kubuntu Installer
3. In partitioning phase, choose to use the fat32 partition as ext3, mounted at
/
4. Grub install will fail
5. Check partition system id with fdisk - it will still be listed as fat32,
even though the filesystem on it is now ext3
Both times I tried this, changing the partition system id with fdisk and
re-running the installer fixed the problem for me.
