The utf8 manpage (installed as /usr/share/man/man7/utf-8.7.gz) has the
following lines in the source ("# " added for quoting):
# The .BR "ISO 10646 Universal Character Set (UCS)" ,

Note that the ".BR" command does not start at the beginning of the line.
That makes groff not interpret it as a command. The preceding space
should be a newline instead.
