Public bug reported: The 'official' caspa/gumstix hd/4k cameras aren't quite working in ubuntu dekstop joule spin. It's very close, but there seems to be some v4l subdevices missing which then fail the camerahal. RefOS kernel produces 4 subdevices which aren't available in the Ubuntu joule kernel (4.4.0-1003-joule #8-Ubuntu): /dev/v4l-subdev14 /dev/v4l-subdev10 /dev/v4l-subdev11 /dev/v4l-subdev12 /dev/v4l-subdev13
Bit more information in the conversation here: https://communities.intel.com/message/484549#484549 The kernel patches are here: https://github.com/01org/meta-intel-camera/blob/master/recipes-kernel/linux-yocto/linux-yocto_4.4.bbappend I assume the latest ubuntu joule kernel must have added some support for these cameras as all these dozens of v4l devices/subdevices popped up, and the kernel can see the camera: [dev] [mav@maverick-joule /var/tmp]$ v4l2-ctl --all -d /dev/video41 Driver Info (not using libv4l2): Driver name : intel-ipu4-isys Card type : ipu4/Broxton B Bus info : pci:0000:00:03.0 Driver version: 4.4.67 Capabilities : 0x84203001 Video Capture Video Capture Multiplanar Video Output Multiplanar Streaming Extended Pix Format Device Capabilities Device Caps : 0x04200001 Video Capture Streaming Extended Pix Format Sorry, I cannot work out how to find out which patches have been applied to the ubuntu joule kernel. ** Affects: linux-joule (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1701790 Title: Joule caspa/gumstix camera support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-joule/+bug/1701790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
