I can also confirm the fix posted by Roger E Critchlow Jr. (Good work mate!)
I moved the old snd-hda-intel folder out of the way, untarred and built the module from the link, rebooted, and *BINGO* was greeted with the Ubuntu welcome sound. No other configuration needed. My headphone output and embedded mic input are also working now. This is on my HP Pavilion dv6000, on a (almost) fresh installation of Ubuntu 7.10. 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) -- Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) - no sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130559 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
