I think this problem may have been fixed on Ubuntu 7.10 OpenOffice
2.3.0.

On Ubuntu 7.10 amd64:

Running OpenOffice writer with a blank document:
ccheney 32530 17.5 3.5 546700 73856 ? Sl 18:38 0:00
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin -writer -splash-pipe=5

Opening the document in question:
ccheney 32462 3.2 6.5 627868 134620 ? Sl 18:36 0:02
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin -writer
file:///home/ccheney/Desktop/Livret.odt -splash-pipe=5

So it doesn't appear to take that much extra memory any longer. Let me
know if you still see the problem.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney
