Following @tomsk that Swtiched to KDE Neon, I tried Mint KDE 1604 and I
am very impressed! The only thing I had to setup was to disable baloo
file indexer that made the system unusable, but after that the system is
really fast and no bugs. Great Work!
- My memory consumption was around 1.5 GB at startup in Ubuntu (always
been an Ubuntu user, since 2009). Now, with all my stuff installed,
Dropbox, etc it is:
STARTUP
total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 7849 840 5758 98 1250 6618
Swap: 8999 0 8999
WITH 2 TABS OF CHROME OPEN
total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 7849 1930 2908 208 3010 5355
Swap: 8999 0 8999
- How to disable baloo in KDE:
> sudo balooctl disable
