If I remember this issue appears since I made the upgrade to Kubuntu 17.04 on my specific hardware platform. the issue didn't affect a previous system based on 4coredual-sata2 (where ftw tool detect ACPI 2.0). No longer problem appears since I've troubleshooted it by the suggestion explained on this thread: https://askubuntu.com/questions/801586/freezing-of-screen-on- ubuntu-16-04/801597
The issue could happen since the beginning; example: I simple open the menu start. The issue could happen randomly after several hours. After restarting because of system hangs, the problem tends to occur immediately. No overclock is set; all internal led of the main board are green except the FSB frequency led that is blue in default position. The only element I note is that in every case hard drive seems to be invoked in action so to increase the cpu utilization just before the system hangs (many times the problem happened during mouse movement or scrolling the page when hard drive have to manage new elements). The hard drive has no issue:SMART is good. Could be the stepping management? however the issue happened also disabling both c1e and eist in the BIOS. The issue affected also another CPU the e6850 model. SO now or the main board is broken or other hardware is broken, or BIOS is broken, or the kernel mismatches the ACPI requirements. However now that I've applied the workaround the problems seems to be fixed. So I've to conclude that that's not a hardware issue but a kernel issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1704374 Title: system randomly hangs itself To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1704374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
