Test case on a laptop:
With nvidia drivers installed, set prime profile of Intel, reboot
Open nvidia settings to confirm it opens.
Let machine stand for 10 min. or so until screen blanks.
Wake up, unlock, then try to open nvidia-settings
What happens: nothing

Can not be opened until a reboot.
