Hi Folks,
I've upgraded kubuntu from Feisty to Gutsy yesterday and encountered the
same problem with adept as it was depicted here.
Additionally upgrading process crashed somethere in the middle leaving
me in console, X and KDE didn't start due to incompability in NVIDIA
restructed module version - it was necessary to run manually
sudo apt-get install aptitude
to finish the upgrading.
However now all works just fine, especially thanks to new looking nice
true type fonts.
The only problem is with adept: it crashed several times (removing
/var/lib/apt/lists helped) and proposes to upgrade to new version.

Update to Gutsy = complete, but requests to upgrade still come through "adept"
