Preparing to replace postgresql-8.2 8.2.5-1 (using
.../postgresql-8.2_8.2.5-1.1_i386.deb) ...
* Stopping PostgreSQL 8.2 database server * Error: pid file is invalid, please
manually kill the stale server process. [fail]
I. e. did you have a postgresql crash before and used pg_ctl manually,
or something like that? The PID file should not become inconsistent, and
failing on such cases is a good thing to prevent more nasty disasters.
** Changed in: postgresql-8.2 (Ubuntu)
