Oh and I almost forgot that you might have missed that.
FOr any sort of early test (that I appreciate) you might just want to take the
daily builds of qemu/libvirt as needed.

You can get those from:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-virt/+archive/ubuntu/virt-daily-upstream

And while not building sometimes there are packages of e.g. yesterday available.
I'd even recommend take the new libvirt 3.5 from the archive but a qemu from
daily until a newer one for Artful was made available.

P.S. there are still some issues atm with the qemu versions (hopefully soon
solved) but until then you can still use it via the workaround:
apt-get download qemu-kvm=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
qemu=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109 qemu-system=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
qemu-user=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109 qemu-utils=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
qemu-block-extra=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
qemu-system-arm=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109

qemu-system-sparc=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
qemu-user=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109

qemu-system-common=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
qemu-system-x86=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
dpkg -i --ignore-depends *.deb
