this should have nothing to do with your other OS or grub. It is "just" an upgrade of the mysql package that fails. >From the log: Setting up mysql-server-5.7 (5.7.18-0ubuntu0.17.04.1) ... Job for mysql.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status mysql.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details. invoke-rc.d: initscript mysql, action "start" failed. You'd need to check that on your own as the errors seems to be older. Your upgrades were on "2017-06-02", but the snippet of the mysql server log that was reported was from today - and that no more contained a startup error. If you happened to have a broken mysql config that prevented the server to start and fixed it up now, then the upgrade will work now. Otherwise please get back here with details that is: 1. retry the mysql upgrade 2. after it fails check and report /var/log/mysql/error.log and "systemctl status mysql" Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.
