I just got exactly this problem with what I take to be the release version. I was invited by the system upgrade device to update to 7.10 and it had a few hiccups, mainly over autentication things.
Then, at the end, when it asked if it should remove obsolete packages I got this problem: ---------------------------------------- Removing python-pexpect Removing python2.4 remoging pyton2.4-minmial unlinking and removing bytcode for runtime python2.4 package `python-pexpect' is not installed use dpkg --info (= dpkg-deb --info) to examine archive files and dpkg --contents (= dpkg-deb --contents0 to list their contents. pycentral: pycentral rtremove: package has no field Python-Version ptycentra rtremove: package has no fiedl Python-version dpkg: error processing python2.4-minimal (--remove): subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 Removing secpolicy remooving libgoffice-0-3 Processing triggers for libc6 ldconfig deferred processing now taking place Errors were encountered while processing: python2.4-minimal Traceback (most recent call last): File "logging/__init__.py", line 753, in emit File "logging/__init__.py", line 731, in flush IOerror: [errno 9] Bad file descripter gutsy: Fatal IO error 9 (Bad file descriptor) on X server :0.0 ---------------- Dialogue box: Could not install 'python2.4-minimal' subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 ---------------- Dialogue box: Error during commit A problem occured during the clean-up.
