This happens when both Ubuntu and Debian have the same package, with the same 
version, but different contents. So apt-cacher serves the Debian version of 
some packages, while Ubuntu expects different ones.
The apt-cacher documentation recommends using two different apt-cacher 
instances, one for Ubuntu and one for Debian. I just hit the same problem here, 
w/o apt-cacher in between it works fine.
