Please try this:
1. Don't log in, so the system doesn't lock up.
2. Switch to a VT (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F4) and log in.
3. List your nvidia-related packages (dpkg -l | grep nvidia) and paste them
here.
Furthermore, if you have a working internet connection that is on
without needing to log in then please also run this in the VT:
4. apport-collect 1708608
5. If you skipped step 4, then please try plugging in an ethernet cable,
reboot and retry step 4.
